For those that want a more in depth Arctic experience our expedition trip is for you. Depart Fairbanks and flightsee over the Arctic Plain to Barrow.

Our schedule is flightseeing and so if the pilot sees caribou, musk ox or other animals a detour is made. Your tour of Barrow is an intimate tour which includes the Inupiat Museum and the Blanket Toss. You return to Fairbanks, flightseeing over the Arctic Plain.

TAD037 - Arctic Adventure | Barrow Day Tour
Depart Fairbanks in the morning, enroute you will cross the Arctic Circle. You may likely see snowy owls, eider ducks and many of the 230 bird species which summer here. Walk on tundra and permafrost, stand in a whale bone arch and inside the skeletal jaws of a bowhead whale on the shore of the Arctic Ocean. Learn about the original village site mounds, which have been dated to 1200 A.D. Travel to the northern-most point in North America accessible by road, then back to Barrow for lunch on your own. Take part in traditional Inupiat dancing including a blanket toss. Time to shop for local arts and crafts will follow at the new Inupiat Heritage Center and Museum. Evening departure back to Fairbanks.

TAD038 - Arctic Adventure | Overnight at the "Top of the World"
Depart Fairbanks in the morning, enroute, you'll cross the Arctic Circle. You may see snowy owls, eider ducks and others of the 230 bird species which summer here. On day two you'll say goodbye to Barrow and its Midnight Sun as you board your morning flight back to Fairbanks.

Note: Passengers departing for Barrow on the afternoon from FAI flight will receive a brief orientation tour upon arrival and take the sightseeing tour on day 2. Return to Fairbanks will be an evening flight.

Nome, situated on the Seward Peninsula by the Bering Sea, is rich in colorful Gold Rush history, and is home to the world's longest dog sled race. The Iditarod commemorates the heroic attempts of dog sled teams to deliver serum to Nome during the diphtheria epidemic of 1924. Have your camera ready as you pull into a dog musher's camp, where you'll experience first-hand the difficulty of dog racing. During your visit to Little Creek Mine, you'll be greeted by a gold miner's family and learn about the gold strike of the 1890's. See modern day prospectors looking for the big strike and try your own luck at panning for gold-what you find, you keep. Shoppers and collectors will find exquisite jade, hand-carved ivory and skin sewings here.

Enjoy the spectacular views of a morning flight from Fairbanks over the Arctic Circle and landing in the remote hamlet of Prospect Creek. The return is narrated by your driver/guide in a private van over the famed Dalton Highway. A stop is made at the Yukon River and a visit to the Arctic Circle Trading Post, located in Joy, AK. Arrive back in Fairbanks under the light of the midnight sun.

TAD044 - Gold Mine Tour | El Dorado Gold Mine
The tour begins as you board a narrow gauge train and travel to a working gold mine where local miners demonstrate modern mining techniques. Along the way, you will see actual demonstrations and experience the gold mining history of Interior Alaska. The tour includes a stop in a permafrost tunnel to learn about historic drift mining in the area. This tour is a 'hands on" experience whereby you get to pan for gold.

TAD045 - Gold Dredge Tour | Gold Dredge # 8 Tour
Located 10 miles north of Fairbanks, this dredge pulled gold by the bucket load from the bedrock of Engineers Creek and Goldstream Creek. This historic dredge was fully operational up to 1959. Your fully guided tour includes a narrated walk thru the dredge, the miners quarters, machine shop, a hearty miners stew for lunch and an opportunity to pan for gold. You are guaranteed to find gold, and you keep what you find!

With a bird's eye view, see remnants of the gold mining that continues nearly 100 years after gold was discovered. View the remarkable Trans Alaska Pipeline, symbolizing the immense changes brought to Alaska's Arctic by the discovery of oil over 35 years ago. Fly over the expansive Yukon River Valley, home of traditional peoples that sustain their lifestyle and culture as they have for thousands of years. Experience the rugged and magnificent Brooks Mountain Range as the flight route passes just south of the Gates of the Arctic National Park. Land north of the Arctic Circle, on the Middle Fork Koyukuk River for a ground tour of a Brooks Range wilderness community, receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. Your paddlewheeler cruise will take you into the heart of Alaska.
