Follow the route of the returning salmon , from ocean to fresh water through six wildlife habitats. Explore the enchanting Chilkoot River, the ancestral fishing grounds of the Tlingit people, where brown bear may be observed meandering along the flowered banks. Keep a watchful eye for bald eagles, shorebirds, waterfowl and marine mammals along the fjord. This is the most popular tour in Haines. |

TAD067 - Float Trip | Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve Rafting Trip

This is a float trip, it has no white water, and can be enjoyed by anyone over seven years of age. The trip begins with a beautiful 30 mile drive up the Chilkat Valley to the preserve, where you will board a safe 18 foot inflatable raft for the float through the preserve. Near Klukwan, the bus will meet you for the return to Haines. Tour includes hotel pick-up, cookie snack/beverages and rubber boots. |

This time of year the rivers are teaming with spawning Pink Salmon. Just before sunset, brown bear families meander out of the forest to forage along the grassy river banks. Although, not guaranteed, bear sights are very common. Be sure to bring your cameras, binoculars and don't forget to stay with the group! |
